Arrogance, TT, BSG, and waaaahhhhhh

Well, I’ve been blogging in my head again. By that I mean that I get an idea that interests me and I decide to blog about it, but because I’m driving or whatever, I plan it out in my head, practically word for word, then life interrupts and it never hits the keyboard. So even though you don’t see them on my blog, recent entries include a rant about Arrogance; a long piece about time travel (which is on my mind lately because I’m working on a TT story); an ode to this season’s Battlestar Galactica, known elsewhere as BSG, and to me as Battlestar G; and laughing on the outside when you’re waaaah-ing on the inside.

Meanwhile, my life has temporarily become filled with stress. Some of it is the so-called “good stress” – i.e. wonderful things that take a lot of effort to put into place, sorta like childbirth (except you don’t get to walk away with a baby). And some of it is bad stress. But mostly, it’s the deadly “mundane stress” – in this case, work deadlines on projects that have long-since lost their intellectual appeal (if they ever had any). I’m spoiled because my job, while always stressful, is usually fascinating. Lately, not so much. And as for the light at the end of the tunnel, well, as they say, that might be the headlamp of an oncoming freight train. Too soon to know.

So let’s talk about time travel. Do you believe in it? Can you give me one good reason not to believe in it? Because I can give you lots of reasons to suspend all disbelief.

Let’s tackle that this weekend. Meanwhile, I hope everyone has been having less stress, more fun, than the average blog hopper!

BTYL,
Kate

Time Travel
Sure why not believe in it? I mean all that living in reality is a complete bore if you ask me...and who is to ever say that it doesn't exist! There is no one that can say with any certainty that many things that are considered Sci-Fi do not exist.

Re: Time Travel
My feelings exactly, Charity. If we can't know for sure (yet), why would anyone opt for saying it's impossible? Where's the fun in that? Well actually, the hero in the book I'm writing says it's impossible, but we can forgive him because he's so darned good-looking and misguided. All he needs is the love of a good woman -- and a swift kick -- and he'll be a believer too! It's like people who choose not to believe in UFOs. Sheesh! They're missing out on some great daydreaming. Of course, they probably secretly believe UFOs are possible, and are scared to confront the possibility, but then they're really shafting themselves, because they get all the stress of being afraid that UFOians will destroy us, but none of the fun of thinking (1) we might win the confrontation, or better still, (2) the UFOians might be friendly. Thanks for visiting! Hope all is well with you and yours. Kate

As for time traveling, I agree w/ both of you ladies! As long as someone is not obsessed w/ UFO's, it is fun to think about.

UFOs
Hi Kathleen! I agree -- if someone's actually obsessed with UFOs, then they make me nervous. I just love having fun with these ideas.

I'm so glad you liked SPIN CONTROL! Thanks for letting me know. I loved, loved, loved writing that book. And don't get me started on how much I want/wanted to write NIGHT ARROW -- which is (or would have been) a paranormal, of course.

Thanks for visiting the blog. And for letting me know that you read SPIN CONTROL.
