My annual match with the Bunny? It's on

Since I've had some inquiries on this serious subject, I thought I'd do a quick post.

Every Easter, my mother-in-law made a cake that looked like a bunny -- ears, bow tie, jelly bean eyes, all covered with coconut. When she passed away, I decided to continue the tradition in her honor, but the Bunny is not making it easy for me. Every year it's a disaster of some sort.

I simply can't master the boiled frosting -- no soft ball, no drip like a spider web, just a mixture that either cools into concrete prematurely, or never progresses from sugar water. Or at least, not without several tries, often with a spoon encased in concrete a la the sword in the stone.

Still, I eventually manage to produce an edible result each year.

This year, I'm going for magnificence. (But I'll settle for edible.)

The family is very supportive. The Bunny? Not so much. But I'm determined. And since I've blogged about it each Easter over the last few years, I'll definitely let you know what happens!

Can you share the recipe?

I don't know what you mean by boiled frosting, though I do see what you're saying about testing the sugar temp.
