Tomorrow is May 5th -- yay!!

Happy Cinco de Mayo Eve, or May the Fourth be with you

Since May 5 is my son’s birthday, as well as part of his family heritage, we always celebrate Cinco de Mayo. And we/he love Star Wars in all its iterations. So the 4th/Force has power too.

And so, as God is my witness, there will be guacamole.

In other news, I’ve been writing. And writing. And writing. Finished two of the three projects that dominated my life for the last four months, and now I’m deep into the space opera.

To refresh everyone’s memory, I was working on a romantic suspense trilogy (done and fun), a short story about a sportswriter who falls for a pretty but anti-sports girl in his building, and a space opera (also a trilogy). The sports story was kind of a palate cleanser, but I ended up loving it.

I know it’s disorienting for you that I keep switching sub-genres, but I firmly believe it makes my story-telling stronger. So that’s why I do it.

Oh, who am I kidding?  I do it because it’s fun.

Meanwhile, the weather here in Elk Grove has been windy with a side order of pollen. Everyone is affected by allergies, even if they don’t usually experience symptoms. But when it’s this windy, with this much pollen, the balmy temperatures and clear skies just seem like a cosmic taunt. Sure, you can wear shorts and admire the foliage, but the sneezing ruins the effect.

Why does it seem like weather is the new irony?

Have a fun weekend!
Kate

p.s. I wish Iron Man would swoop into my home and take me to the theater so I can watch his new movie. You know how much I love him, but God help us, the sneezing might just ruin it for everyone! Maybe next week?
