future blog entries

Hi again. Happy Day after St. Patrick's Day. We're still eating potato leek soup from yesterday here, which is a great deal for me because I didn't have to cook a new dinner. Plus, we're starting a low carb diet soon, so we're loving these last tastes of forbidden fruit.

Anyway.... on to the subject of future blog entries.

Every once in a while I get an idea for a nonfiction article about writing, but after the initial burst of excitement and note-scribbling, I usually put it on the back burner and forget it because I don't have time to develop it well and format it, et cetera. I'm wondering if maybe this blog would be a good place to develop those ideas. Who knows? Maybe some of them will gel.

So here are some topics I might take a shot at in the next weeks/months: My Ideal Reader (you'd probably be surprised to hear what I want in a reader -- I know I was surprised when I started thinking it through); Writer's Insomnia -- I've got it bad; Plotting; Editorial Serendipity -- that's a fancy idea which I believe I made up. And other assorted half-baked ideas.

If you'd like to see a sample of my advice/rambling, the great folks at Romance Readers Connection posted an article of mine a while back called CHEATING ON THE BOOK OF YOUR HEART, which deals with the subject of juggling two or more WIPs at a time (WIP being "work in progress"). Also, on the FAQ page of my website I've got some tips, e.g. How to Deal with Writer's Block.

Meanwhile, I'm going to spend the rest of the weekend working on a proposal for my next Bombshell. I've already got the synopsis done, so I just need to work up a couple of chapters. I've had this story percolating in the back of my mind for months, so it should be lots of fun and very little stress. It's called NIGHT ARROW. Those of you who read EXIT STRATEGY might recall that that's the secret formula the heroine stole from a drug company in South America. It's also part of a subplot in my Sept 2006 Bombshell SPIN CONTROL, but now I'm hoping Night Arrow will get its own book. Fingers crossed!
