Hi everyone. I saw the new James Bond movie yesterday, and would have blogged about it right away, but I also got a rejection yesterday, so I was down in the dumps. Still am.

But that doesn’t change the fact that for the first time ever, I loved, loved, loved a James Bond flick. That’s right – for those of you out there who always found him a little too smooth to be truly sexy, our time has finally arrived with this new, rough-edged, blue-eyed heroic hunk of believably unbelievable guy.

The movie itself is very good, but then again, I’ve always liked the special effects and cheek of the Bond films. In the past, however, I felt like they were written by men, produced by men, for the enjoyment of men. The fact that millions of women fell in love with that old Bond was just a nice bonus.

But CASINO ROYALE gives you more than special effects, cheek, and style – it gives you substance.

So if you’re like me – if you went to the other ones mostly to be a good sport – you’ll find yourself drooling during this one, starring a flawed but irresistible male. Daniel Craig is a Bond I can fantasize about.

I’ve been a Sean Connery fan forever, and I loved Pierce Brosnan for years. But as Bond, neither of them worked for me, because Bond himself didn’t work for me. I don’t think either of those guys was given a three-dimensional character – or at least, not one that resonated with me. So even though they were sexy and talented, they still didn’t make me want to run away with JB.

Whether you loved the previous Bond movies or not, you should definitely see this one. And try to see it in the theater, because bigger-than-life is part of the charm, right?

I’ll blog about the R later. Still trying to wrap my head around it. Minor setback? Wake-up call? No big deal? Too soon to know. A writer always has to give a rejection some space when it first hits. For me, it takes about a week to be sure how I really feel. But I might still blog about it this weekend, just because...

Aww. Too bad about the rejection, but yay for Daniel Craig. :)

Thanks for the sympathy, Kit.

"Craig, Daniel Craig" definitely cushioned the blow. Those blue eyes will linger in my mind long after the sting of the rejection fades.
