Bombshell wake

Next Saturday, some fabulous die-hard fans and authors are having a wake in Texas to commemorate the end of the Silhouette Bombshell line. For details, visit: http://bombshellwake.wordpress.com/

Many of us who can't attend have written eulogies, but that's no substitute for being there. I have family commitments that prevent my attendance, but they're going to hook me in by phone.

We're all grateful to Penni and Karmela for making it happen. Check it out!

And if you enjoyed Bombshell, you can also show the love by buying the January books, which are in the stores now (or at next week at the latest). I know for a fact that they rock (I didn't write any of them, but I wish I had!). And if the new Athena Force series hits the stands, you can't go wrong with that either if you like strong heroines, romantic subplots, and kick-ass plots. (Okay, so I wrote one of those -- sue me!)

What a roller coaster Bombshell has been. Unbelievable, really.

Kate

p.s. Silhouette is hosting a wake at their website too. If you have a Bombshell memory to share, that's the place to do it at http://community.eharlequin.com/webx?7@332.efaRalwVZhC.3@.4a83ec76/6

Wake / Eulogies
I posted this down below where we were talking about the wake and chiles but thought, well, someone interested in the wake might not see it there.

So far, I have 5 eulogies -- 1 from a reader, 1 each from you, Erica Orloff and Nancy Holder. And one from Natashya Wilson, former senior editor of SBS. Natashya's came in this morning and it made my heart and my eyes fill.

It's not too late for anyone to come -- they just need to email us that they're coming and what they want on their nametag. The address is at the WEB page you gave.

As a little background, about two years ago, four of us readers who were regulars at the eHarlequin.com community discussion threads decided to get together and meet in person (although, I think the other 3 might have met before -- I was new to the eHQ world). And by then, I felt comfortable enough with Evelyn Vaughn -- b/c she was very regular in the Bombshell threads -- that I sent her an email and said, "Four of us are getting together at this time at this place and would love to have you join us." Well, since I was inviting Vaughn, I tho't that I'd better invite Cindy Dees and Sharron McClellan b/c the 3 of them had just done a signing together. At that point, I had read Cindy's first Bombshell (the only one she'd had out so far) and her first SIM but I had no idea who Sharron was (b/c her SBS wasn't out yet). I've never asked Cindy and Sharron but I'm not sure they were not QUIIIIITE what was going on b/c I wrote the "business" part of the email and was going to add a short intro but what w/ kids interrupting me and such, the email went out without so much as a "you don't know me but. . ." LOL. And Vaughn invited Jenna Mills.

And then Kathy Garbera moved to town. And then Rachel Caine wrote a couple of SBSes. And then I tho't, well, maybe Stef Feagan gets to DFW now and then so I emailed her and we had several cybersqueals at how our lives overlapped -- she's from Fort Worth, I live in FW, she's Presbyterian, I'm raising my kids Presbyterian, and several more things. And then Ellen Henderson's SBS came out. And we readers also started inviting friends. So, we've been getting together for lunches and dinners 3 or 4 times per year for almost two years. If we all showed up, we'd be 16 people. Of course, it's next to impossible to get that many people together at once. But we always have a good time, whoever of us makes it.

So, it just seemed natural to hold a wake. And hold it here.

Sharron has moved away and can't make it back (her parents and one sister are still here); Sandra Moore lives about a 5 hours drive away and is coming up for the wake; Stef Feagan is in town fairly regularly with her day job. Anyway, I think we'll have a good time this weekend but the end of the line by no means will be the end of our socials.

Okay, off to be productive. :)

Unbalanced is the perfect word for it. That's how it's been for the last couple of months, it seems. I guess all we can hope is that the Athena Force books will do well, and there will be some renewed interest in another bombshellesque line.

Thanks!
