I'm told by reliable sources that SPIN CONTROL has been nominated for a Reviewer's Choice Award at Romantic Times magazine.

Yay!! Thanks RT!  Thanks, Alexandra Kay!!! And mega congrats to my co-nominees: Stef Feagan, Harper Allen, Nancy Holder and Peggy Nicholson.

Hmmm... okay.... you knew it was coming...

As with all things Bombshell, the news is bittersweet.  I had so much faith in this particular book, plus it got a decent cover, so all systems were go. But the timing of its release -- it came out in the month directly following the announcement that the Bombshell line was being cancelled -- pretty much ensured that it would tank. I haven't gotten a royalty statement yet, but I'm sure it didn't sell many copies.

My big plan was that Suzannah Ryder, my heroine, would charm readers into wanting to read my future Bombshells. Looking back, that was a pretty bad plan!  It presupposed (1) readers and (2) future Bombshells.

Still, I'm proud of Suzannah and Justin -- they were such a fun couple to write, and now they've been nominated for an award. Can't say they didn't do their part!

And meanwhile, check out Karmela Johnson's blog post about the Bombshell wake in Dallas last Saturday: http://karmelajohnson.com/blog/

I couldn't attend because of other commitments, but they were always on my mind that night.  You couldn't ask for a better group to represent the best of Bombshell, readers and authors: Penni, Karm, Jennifer and Kelley; Evelyn Vaughn, Sandra K. Moore, and Cindy Dees.

p.s. I used to get RT in the mail, but I let my subscription lapse. I think I'll re-up!!! Meanwhile, I'll be buying a copy at B&N this weekend, that's for sure.

Career Achievement Nominees
More bittersweet Bombshell news -- I noticed that at least 7 (7 if I counted right, more if I missed someone)

anyhoo, at least 7 people who have written for Bombshell were nominated for RT Career Achievement Awards. Some, like Catherine Mann, only wrote one SBS. Others, like Evelyn Vaughn, Cindy Dees, KATE DONOVAN (who's that? ) and Debra Webb, wrote several. Just goes to show what excellent excellent writers this line attracted.

Re: Career Achievement Nominees
Definitely bittersweet.

Plus, I always thought you should get one of those at the END of your career, so I'm sincerely hoping they don't know something I don't know.

Ugh, that was a bad sentence. Maybe my career IS over.

p.s. just kidding! It's "career acheivement so far," with lots more to come.

Right? ::gulp::....

Well, yeah, it IS "career achievement so far and in a few years with sweat and tears you can be here too so study these ladies" b/c the ones whose ages I have a feel for are not very old at all. Especially compared to Betty Neels, who was possibly 20 years older than many of the nominees when she STARTED writing.

"not very old at all"

That's a lovely way of putting it. You have a way with words, speaking of which, when do I get to hear your eulogy?

I had my cell phone with me every second during the wake, but I wasn't surprised you all didn't call me. Good thing too b/c in addition to her original song, Kristie wrote a special Texas treatment called Deep in the Heart of Bombshell, and I'm a pretty good clapper (that doesn't mean anything weird, does it?) so I might've sung it.

Again, kidding. I don't sing in public, although I did karaoke once. It wasn't pretty.

Re: Career Achievement Nominees
Well, from things that they've said online and/or in bios, I'm pretty sure I know E. Vaughn's and Cathy Mann's ages plus or minus a year and ummm, it's pretty much my age when I'm not lying, LOL!! Little older but not much. So, no, not very old at all!! I still expect 50 more years of writing from these women if their muses co-operate.

Well, email me your phone number and maybe just maybe I'll read you my eulogy (I'm actually going to post all the ones that I received once we've had the wake). When do I get to hear Kristie's? And the Texas version? We're doing "The Wake Part II" this Saturday at lunch. Stef Feagan is still in town -- the weather has NOT cooperated with her being able to drive safely home. Maybe she'll decide to just stay on for "part 2" since she missed "part 1."

Pen, off to entertain the kids since schools are closed today
