I think the thing holding me back (besides price) was that I didn't want Windows Vista. I'm just not ready so I wimped out, and now I can just relax and enjoy.
This new thing is going to be pretty darned fast, with a mid-range Intel dual core processor and 2 gigabytes of memory. 22 inch widescreen monitor. Assorted other goodies. And for quite a good price. If you need one, it's at the Dell website until tomorrow. Look for the one with the free memory upgrade (in the business part of the site. The "home" part makes you buy Vista) It was 8 hundred and something dollars -- would have been just about 800 even, but my husband made me buy a new surge suppressor because my old one is SO old, a Jolt cola could get past it.
Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes. After this faltering old thing I've been working on, it should be heaven. And that's just where the old one will go -- "heaven" being my closet, where all my old computers are living happily ever after. My 286, my 386, my 22 pound Epson "laptop," my Pentium 90 -- good times...)
